I usually don't fry things, because it's messy & unhealthy, but last nite I made an exception. I had a couple tablespoons of bacon grease (no, I didn't even fry that, I broiled it) & a smoked pork chop that had been sitting in my refrigerator for a few days. You can guess where this is going.
I stirred in a little fresh-cut rosemary, cracked pepper & a packet of prepared sweet & sour sauce that I got with some egg rolls. Then I fried (oh the horror!) my pork chop.
It tasted like bacon! Imagine eating a bacon steak. This was that.
Try it.

Sounds good, actually. Though I'd probably F it up, since I'm such a fabulous cook.

If it actually stops raining here, we'll be BBQing tonight. I'm crossing my fingers.

My wife is making homemade chicken noodle soup tonight since I have a cold. Being sick certainly has its upsides.

I developed a chicken gumbo based on The Green Pharmacy. It's full of all sorts of tasty, healthy things like okra & garlic that are supposed to help with cold symptoms. You can even leave out the chicken for a vegetarian version. There's no actual recipe, tho. I just throw stuff together.

Lamb stew with carrots, potatoes, onion, cabbage, and a few leftover packets of instant something powder. The something was meant to be chicken flavor, I think.

Had the parents over for dinner tonight.

Did a shrimp tempura with seasoning salt and Old Bay, with a variety of dipping sauces.

Big hit.

Sausages with rice, onion and home made gravy. Basic, but it tasted excellent. And the sausages were in the freezer too long or something, because it made me violently sick.

Apologies if someone earlier in the thread already said that. I haven't the patience to check.
